Lower Your Operating Costs with Variable Frequency Drives

Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) are reliable electronic devices that control three-phase electric motor speed. They are used in building automation, industrial, pumping, agricultural, irrigation, and water & wastewater applications to control the speed of fans and pumps in various systems. The payback period for installing drives is usually less than three years and can be less than a year.

Drives do more than reduce energy cost:
-- Drives reduce fan noise and duct rumble, thus reducing tenant complaints.
-- Drives reduce amps during motor starting, lowering demand charges; another -- significant part of the electric bill.
-- Drives are less expensive to maintain than mechanical controls.
-- Drives inherent soft-starting reduces wear and tear on motors, sheaves, belts, couplings and other system components.
-- Drives provide accurate and repeatable control of HVAC settings, eliminating frequent readjustments.

Yaskawa P7 Variable Frequency Drive
Yaskawa P7 Variable Frequency Drive

5 - 500 Horsepower Industrial Fan and Pump Drive

The P7 is designed for variable torque applications like Fans and Centrifugal Pumps. It is supplied with V/f control and Normal Duty overload rating of 110% for one minute. Network communications, plug-in I/O cards, and power/packaging options are available. With an optional phase-shifting input transformer, the P7 dual-diode bridge can be operated in 12-pulse rectification mode, reducing input current harmonic distortion.

The P7 / Configured package provides a P7 drive in a NEMA 1, NEMA 3R or NEMA 12 FVFF enclosure, with space for factory-mounted and wired options, such as reactors, filters, circuit breakers, fuses, network communications and I/O cards etc.

The P7 / Bypass package provides a P7 drive and 3-contactor bypass in a NEMA 1, NEMA 3R, or NEMA 12 FVFF enclosure, of sufficient size to mount and wire commonly selected options such as filters, fuses, network communications and I/O cards.

V1000 Current Vector Drive
Yaskawa V1000 Current Vector Drive

1/8 - 25 Horsepower Current Vector Drive

The V1000 is a world-class compact current vector drive that defines a new world standard. Demands for efficient production and better maintainability are on the rise, spurred by global competition. The optimum balance of energy input, product output, maintenance risk, and long life is reached with the Yaskawa V1000.

Its design features maintenance monitors to ensure drive health, on-line tuning to maintain harmony with the motor, application presets to make installation faster and easier, and RoHS compliance to ensure environmental responsibility. The V1000 can also be stacked side-by-side, due to its improved heat-sink technology. The EN954-1 Safety Category 3 safety input to disconnect the motor at the first sign of trouble is standard.

And all by using fewer parts than the V1000’s predecessor, ensuring fewer chances for failure. We engineered the V1000 to be smaller, be more precise to eek out every bit of production from conveyors to food and beverage machines. It uses less energy, is quieter, and its removable control terminal block speeds installation.

The V1000 makes controlling motion easy, but it also makes controlling costs easy, by saving companies as much as 72% in energy usage when used for HVAC air handling duties. It also operates with near-servo precision, making sure that your other motion controls are as efficient as they can be.

Contact us today to discuss how we can configure the V1000 to improve your operation and save you energy.

No Hot Air About VFDs

There are well-known benefits of using variable-frequency drives (VFDs) to reduce energy consumed by induction motors. Federal, state and local agencies in the U.S. now all give incentives for installing VFDs, as do many utilities. The energy saved by using VFDs can be compelling, and taking advantage of these programs can add considerably to their savings.
